Cathy Defregger has studied dance since the age of 5. Through the years, she has trained in and performed ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, tap, and hip hop in Virginia, Florida, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and London, England.
Cathy received her BA in dance from Radford University in Radford, Virginia. During her studies, she spent a semester in London, England, where she studied dance and performed in the Malibu World Dance Championship. As the U.S. Representative, she placed in the top ten of over 35 dancers from around the world.
Cathy has taught dance classes to children and adults for various studios in Virginia, Wolfeboro School of Ballet, Tilton School, and 11 years at Edgewater Academy of Dance. She has performed with Chamber Ballet, Newport News Contemporary Dance Theatre, Student Dance Theatre and the Radford University Dance Theatre in Virginia. Cathy choreographed and performed in Street Car Company’s “Oklahoma” and “Grease” and choreographed “West Side Story” for Tilton School. Cathy was voted as one of the top three New Hampshire community theater choreographers in 2010 for her choreography for the Winnipesaukee Playhouse’s musical “A Year With Frog and Toad”. Cathy loves teaching and is committed as owner/director of Edgewater Academy of Dance to providing dance classes that teach good technique and encourage creativity in a fun and nurturing environment. Cathy resides in Gilford with her husband and two children. As always, she is looking forward to this season with great excitement and energy!

Becky Gregoire began her training at Diane’s Dance Academy at the age of 3. Her dance studies include tap, hip hop, jazz, modern, ballet, and pointe. Becky served as an assistant teacher for several years before joining Edgewater’s teaching staff in 2001. Becky is a dance faculty member at Plymouth State University.
Becky has attended several dance intensives and workshops with New Hampshire Dance and at Plymouth State College as well as several hip hop workshops. Becky was a member of Edgewater Dance Company and has won many awards at regional and national dance competitions. Becky resides in Laconia with her husband and daughter. She is looking forward to teaching this year with her usual great energy and enthusiasm.

Jessie Byram graduated from Plymouth State University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Developmental Psychology and a minor in Dance. She is currently attending Rivier College to attain a Master’s degree in School Counseling. Jessie has been dancing for 20 years, including 15 years at Edgewater studying tap, ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, and hip-hop. Jessie was a member of Edgewater Dance Company. At PSU, she took classes from many renowned teachers and choreographers from a variety of dance companies, including Refractions Dance Collective of NYC, Deca Dance Theater, Urbanity, Pantos Project, and BoSoma Dance Company. Jessie also had the opportunity to take two semester-long classes from Mziyanda Mancam of JazzArt Dance Company in South Africa. She was a member of the PSU Dance Team for three years, and co-captain her senior year. She has continued to choreograph and perform with the New Hampshire Dance Movement to benefit the Faith, Love, and Hope Foundation. Jessie began teaching at Edgewater in 2014 and is excited to teach for another season!

Suzanna Derynioski began her training at Diane’s Dance Academy, and continued with Edgewater Academy of Dance. During her time at Edgewater, Suzanna studied ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop. She was member of the Edgewater Dance Company, performing at many events and venues. Suzanna graduated from Plymouth State University in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Management with an option in Small Business Entrepreneurship and a minor in dance, and received a certificate in dance pedagogy. Suzanna is co-founder of New Hampshire Dance Movement, an organization that puts on an annual dance show to benefit a local charity. She is an accomplished choreographer with the PSU Contemporary Dance Ensemble and New Hampshire Dance Movement. Suzanna was a member of the PSU Dance Team for three years, and co-captain and secretary her senior year. She received the Contemporary Dance Ensemble Award, in recognition of contributions made for the development and furtherance of the art of dance at PSU. Suzanna has worked with several accomplished choreographers, including Charmian Wells of Refractions Dance Collective (New York), Betsy Graves of Urbanity Dance (Boston), Kat Pantos of Pantos Project (Boston), and Amy Marshall and Chad Levy of the Amy Marshall Dance Company (New York). Suzanna very excited to be teaching at Edgewater for another season!

Jenna Rogato started dancing at the age of 2 at Diane’s Dance Academy and continued with Edgewater Academy of Dance. She studied ballet, tap, jazz,pointe, modern and hip hop. As a member of the Edgewater Dance Company she competed and performed at numerous venues and events.
Jenna has two Masters’ degrees in both Counseling and Dance Movement Therapy. Her undergraduate degree is in psychology with a minor in Dance from Radford University in Radford, VA. There she extended her dance repertoire by adding classes and multiple performances in stepping, contemporary, African dance and study of Fosse style jazz. Her work was selected and performed in multiple student choreography showcases. She spent a year in New Zealand studying Kapa Haka, the traditional song and dance of the Maori people. Jenna was awarded the honor of becoming a member of the Kapa Haka performing groups in both Auckland and the Otago region, with whom she performed many times on stage and television.
Jenna was assistant teacher for many years at Edgewater as well as choreographing the alumni dance for many recitals. Her talents have continued to be a wonderful asset to Edgewater. Jenna headed the 7-9 year old 2012-2016 Summer Dance Camps.
